Southern Caribbean stops

Everyone was there. All of Grandma's children and spouses celebrating her 80th birthday.

This map shows the places we visited: St. Maarten; Dominica; Grenada; Tobago; Barbados, and back to San Juan Puerto Rico.

Cruise Itinerary

We visited the Barbados Parliament Building, built of coral-limestone rock in 1871. John and I took the tour of the inside seeing the rooms where the Senate (21 people) and the House of Assembly met.

In Barbados we wanted to find the hotel where we stayed 21 years ago. We read our guide book, reconstructed our memories and with a lot of luck found The Colony Club. Was this it? Sure looks close to us. Happy memories then and now

Christmas Favorites

For Christmas Rachel and Christine joined us in Frankfurt. That was the best gift we could get. The Frankfurt Christmas Market closed early, so we went to Nuremburg to see the oldest (and biggest?) of the Christmas Markets. I enjoyed the lights and crowds and browsing through stands.
Christmas was fun and I thank all of you for your thoughtful gifts. We have enjoyed them and thinking of you. And wasn't Rachel's collection of our favorite things amazing? These also bring sweet associations when I use them...
The day after Christmas we drove to Salzburg. We paused in Munich just long enough to walk through the big cathedral, see the glockenspiel in the main platz, and take the bone-deep freeze off with Starbucks cocoa.
In Salzburg we took the Sound of Music tour as a way to see the main sights and some country side. The salt mines are funny places to go through. You can still slide down the chutes that the miners used. We visited Mozart's boyhood home and enjoyed two evenings of mostly Mozart concerts and dinner. I have a lot of pictures to go with these fun memories, and hope that sooner or later they will appear below. Next Christmas I'll be in the most special place on earth -- home in the USA!
